On the beautiful blue Danube .....

So poetically Strauss the son titled his famous waltz and no less poetically depicted the Danube in his magnificent music.

I invite you to one of the most delightful and picturesque places that inspire poetry and music - the blue Danube valley WAHAU.

Just an hour's drive from Vienna, and you are transported to a completely different world, forgetting about the hustle and bustle of city life. The Wachau Valley is a unique work of nature, which is why it is included in the UNESCO heritage list.

An exciting and rich program awaits you. And we will start it with a visit to the Benedictine monastery of Melk, a grandiose structure built by monks at the height of the Baroque era.

From Baroque to the Middle Ages ... and we are high on the mountain, in the medieval fortress of Aggstein. Here you will find not only an interesting route through the castle, but also an excellent panoramic platform over the entire valley!

After going downstairs, we move to the other side of the Danube and stop in the tiny town of Durnstein, as ancient as the castle of Aggstein. When King Richard the Lionheart was held captive on the mountain above Durnstein until he was found by his loyal servant Blondel ...

In order to keep fit, we try "drunken apricot", or apricot schnapps, or apricot nectar (it is no coincidence that apricot in Wachau is a patented brand) and continue our journey.

On the way to Krems, the center of the valley, which is called the "gateway to the Wachau", we will visit the village of Willendorf, where the Venus of Willendorf was found at the beginning of the 20th century - a 30 thousand-year-old statuette !!!

At the end of the journey through the Wachau Valley, the city of Krems awaits us, where, if you wish, you can have a snack / lunch, as well as taste amazing and worthy of the highest praise wines of this region.
